Saturday was another great day full of horses (and lunch out)! The wind gave us a little reprieve and Aimee helped move the jumps around while I tacked up. Seriously guys, horse friends are the best friends. There was a grid set up as a cross rail bounce, two stride to a oxer, one stride to a vertical. Then there were some various jumps here and there including some bogey fences like narrow blocks, tires, barrels and such.
We started out with poles in the grid and started building it up. Prisoner answered every question. It wasn't anything earth shattering or record breaking, but it was pure bliss. Prisoner didn't rush, didn't levitate horizontally, didn't throw a fit. You guys, we cantered around and had fun. I was bubbling with joy. I haven't stopped wanting to watch my video. I can't wait to jump again and I'm even looking forward to cross country again. I feel like we have a whole new mindset for this year.
I feel like we are a team again, and that my friends is so very satisfying. We are recreating that joy I felt with him our first summer and fall together, except that this time he has months of hard work and sweat and training. So this time instead of flimsy gossamer dreams of shows in the future, my dreams with him can include excel spreadsheets with show dates and fee breakdowns and real honest to goodness plans.
